This activity is open to any student grades 5-8 and meets at Horizon Middle School. Students will learn the fundamentals of playing guitar, such chords, strumming, and basic technique, while learning fun songs in a group setting. Guitar Ensemble performs two concerts per year along with Level 2. Since we only meet once a week, students will be expected to practice regularly at home to meet weekly progress micro-goals. If you plan on purchasing a guitar, please contact the instructor about finding a guitar that is the right size for your student. Students can use school-owned guitars during practice, but it is recommended that they have one at home as well. Rock on!2026 Fall -

Students who have previously been in Guitar Ensemble or who have had at least 1 year of private lessons are eligible to join Level 2. In a group setting, we will learn new chords, strumming techniques, fingerstyle, notes, and play in 2- or 3-part harmony. This is a student-focused group, so students will have some input on what songs are played. Since we will only meet once per week, students will be expected to practice regularly at home to meet weekly progress micro-goals. Students can use school-owned guitars during practice, but it is recommended that they have one at home as well. We will perform two concerts.
